Kaia Says: Take 2
A few months ago I did a little post called "Kaia Says". Well, this kiddo says a lot and I decided that it was time to do another post before I forgot.
My mom was visiting and helping me get dinner for the kiddos. Kaia was at the dinner table and said, "I don't have nothing to eat Missy and Mrs."
We were heading into the store when she stopped me and whispered, "Here mom 6 year olds don't play with toys." Then she handed me her Jessie doll.
One night before bed Matt was reading up on a surgery that he had to do the next day. Kaia was trying to get his attention. He asked her to wait a minute because he was working on some homework. She looked at him puzzled and said, "What? But you're not even a kid. You don't have homework."
We were eating some of her leftover birthday cupcakes and she hurried and ate hers. I was finishing mine up and she asked to have some. I told her no because she already had one and this one was mine. She said there for a minute and then she began to sing a church hymn, "Choose the right when a choice is placed before you... See Mama you need to choose the right and share wih me."
Recently we had the following conversation:
Kaia: "Mommy you are a queen and I am a princess and Gabriel is a king.
Me: "No, Daddy is a king and the boys are princes.
Kaia: "No, Gabriel is a prince and Gatlin is a charming. We can't have two princes."
One Sunday after church I was walking around the church pick up each child after class. Gatlin was not his in class so we were walking around looking for him. I asked Kaia to help. She looked a little and then she said, "He is not here but that's ok let's just go home without him."
Finally, for the latest thing that she said, which totally melted my heart. It was a Monday evening. Matt was gone and I was trying to settle everyone down to eat dinner. We have really been working with Kaia and helping her to understand that it is important to listen to mommy and daddy. She was giving me a hard time. I got her to settle down and I blessed the food. After I had finished she said, "Mommy, can I say a prayer?" I said, "Sure" then she said, "I want to say one by myself. " She ran off to the living room, knelt down by the fireplace and said, "Dear Heavenly Father, please help my fingers to start feeling better (she had blisters for holding onto the side of the pool while we were swimming at our friend's house) and please forgive me for not listening. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen." Then she came, sat down, ate her dinner, and was an angel for the rest of the night.
