Straight From Kaia

Kaia has really begun to blossom in the last year and I thought that I should probably write down some of the things that she comes up with:

After our day at the beach Kaia woke up the next morning complaining that her back hurt. I looked and realized that she was sunburned. I told her, "Mama is sorry I must not have gotten the sunscreen on you fast enough. Your back is sunburned." For the last week she has referred to it as her "sunscream".

Anytime she wants something she will say "I need..." instead of I want or can I have. For instance, "Excuse me Mom, I need some water."

She has a sweet tooth like her Mama and her favorite thing right now is chocolate pudding or as she calls it, "pudding chocolate". We have corrected her but she continues to call it that. (and it drives her dad crazy)

The other day she was sent to her room for taking something away from Gatlin. This happens a lot in our house. I usually leave her in there for a couple of minutes and then I explain to her what she did wrong, and I make her give me a hug and say sorry. This time when I went to talk to her, she quickly leaned in to give me a hug and said, "Wait, wait, wait mom I just want to say sorry." Hmm, maybe she is learning her lesson.

She is finally at the age where she will sit and watch a real movie. (not a cartoon) We rented Alvin and the Chipmunks from the library and she loves it. All day she will ask if she can watch the "Chimp-punks" It really cracks me up.

The other day we were heading to the mall so the kids could play. But first we needed to drop our van off to get new tires. When Matt parked the car at the auto shop Kaia said, "Hey, where's the mall? Dad this isn't the mall." I am not sure why but I couldn't stop laughing.

Back when she was in school, one of the bus drivers told her that she looked pretty. Kaia responded and said, "I always look pretty."

If you call her a girl she will quickly correct you and say, "No, I am not a girl I am a princess."

When you ask her who her favorite quarterback is she responds, "Drew Brees!"

If she sees a Fleur De Lis she will say "Look the Saints!"

Matt recently got a DVD of this past year's Super Bowl and Kaia will ask if she can watch Drew Brees with him.

My attitude has rubbed off on her too (oops!) One of my favorite things to tell Matt when he is bugging me is, "Don't get loud with me." Kaia tells me that all the time especially if I am bugging her, "Don't get loud with me, Mom." I sure hope she never tells her teacher that.

On the flip side to that last one I do have to take a moment and brag about my sweet girl. She is very polite. She always says "please" and "thank you" and will usually say "excuse me" to get my attention. She is such a happy, funny girl and at times can be exhausting but I love her too much.

Those are funny! It's good that you're writing some of those down because I'm sure she will enjoy reading it someday!
